the most wonderful time of the year...

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas spent with friends and family you love!  We had a crazy Christmas this year... traveling to three different Christmas celebrations!  It was so fun to see family and spend time with the people we love most, but maybe a little too ambitious to try to take on with a 2 year old!

Life has been crazy these past few months, (as you can probably guess by the abandonment of the blog) but I still can't believe the end of 2011 is right around the corner!  This year has been full of adventures and challenges, but I wouldn't change a minute of it.  Christmas cards were moved to the bottom of the priorities list this year... So, I present to you our New Year's card:

 What do you think?
I think I'm one lucky girl to have those two studs all to myself!

Happy New Year friends! I pray 2012 will be our best year yet, filled with all the things that we love the most!
*Cheers!*

facing my fears

One thing that I do not like are needles.
I have always hated getting shots.  My mom used to make deals with me when I was younger that she would take me to the toy store or ice cream shop if I didn't make a scene at the doctor's office when it was time for shots.  My family was completely shocked that I even got a tattoo.  So today I did something, that for me, is pretty crazy... today I got acupuncture.  An even bigger shock?  I looved it.
I never thought in a million years that I would try acupuncture.  I mean how can a bunch of needles help you feel better?!  After talking with the Dr. we both agreed that we believe that the body wants to heal itself and she went on to explain that that is what acupuncture does, it helps your body heal itself.  I have to admit that I was skeptical at first, but was amazed at the sensations and relief I felt as each tiny needle was inserted.  While I laid on the table with about 20 needles in my skin, I started feeling stronger and more relaxed.  I don't fully understand the idea of Qi but I do know that it worked.  As I left the doctor's office I felt a weird high, not a drugged high, more of a happy high.  The kind of high I felt when Josh proposed or when I held Jay for the first time or on my wedding day... I left the office on Cloud 9 feeling totally refreshed and clear headed.  I am scheduled to get bi-weekly treatments for 4 weeks along with weekly physical therapy and massages.  After the great results today,  I'm really excited to try this approach to healing after the accident.  It's amazing how a few needles can invigorate you, not only physically but mentally.  I'm so glad that I didn't let my fear of needles hold me back from trying something new.  I think it's good for us to do things that scare us.  It gives you the feeling of accomplishment after conquering a fear and you might just be missing out on a great experience.  So with that said, I dare doube-dog dare you to do something you thought you'd never do... you never know what you could be missing out on!

it's me, surprise!

 Hi friends!
I’ve missed you! So much has been going on lately between working countless hours with the ambulance, being a momma/wife, family shenanigans and such that blogging has fallen by the wayside.  So, if you don’t follow me on twitter (which you should! @BrittBeahan) then you might have assumed that I dropped off the face of the earth, but rest assured, I’m alive & kickin’.  I’ve missed my blogging ritual and love blogging, the community and the friends that I’ve made and I’ve missed you, truly!
While I’ve been away a few noteworthy events have taken place:

This stud-muffin graduated from high school

My partner-in-crime & her husband booked a vacation back to the PNW in September!!

My dad decided to marry his girlfriend in a spur of the moment wedding this last tuesday.
Seeing that my parents divorced just last fall (after 27 years) and that I’d only met said girlfriend 2x, i think it’s needless to say that it was awkward. Copious amounts of Adult beverages were obviously a necessity post ceremony.

The wedding was in gorgeous Lake Chelan, which just so happens to be 30 minutes away from Brewster, so we ended up making a mini vacation out of it.
The weather was gorgeous.

We got in a car accident a few weeks ago and in typical EMS personnel style I declined the stretcher/backboard and insisted that I was fine and that a little whip lash couldn’t be that bad ha! I hurt like a mother.

I applied for a volunteer position at the fire department and was accepted, assuming I pass the CPAT (physical test YoutTube it!) I’m a pretty active person and would normally not be worried about taking the CPAT, but seeing that I have to wear an extra 50-80lbs of weight on  freshly whip-lashed shoulders, I’m a little nervous!

Well, looks like we're all caught up!
Talk to you soon friends!

Losing the lbs again.  I was seriously on a roll with eating great/working out and really seeing results and after Kristen and Ed visited I kind of plateaued.  But, I'm back at it again and feel great.  Being healthy really is a lifestyle.

Current Mood:
Sentimental.
My Aunt Kathy is honestly the most amazing and giving woman ever.  I look up to my Aunt Kathy so much, she is the most caring woman and would give you the shirt off her back.  Last week her husband, my Uncle Rick, unexpectedly passed away.  Our family is so heartbroken for her, her children and grandchildren.  Uncle Rick's memorial service is tomorrow and I can't even imagine what they are going through.  Please keep my Aunt Kathy in your thoughts and prayers.

What are your current favorites?  I'd love to know.  I'm always looking to spice things up and try new things! Hope you have a wonderful Friday Eve friends!

Wednesday Loves

It doesn't feel like it's time for Wednesday to be here yet... Praise sweet baby Jesus for 3 day weekends and a 4 day work week!  I always look forward to linking up with Jamie for What I'm Loving Wednesday and seeing what other people are loving!

I'm loving these pictures I look of the Wisteria and lights on the pergola in our backyard.

I'm loving that it's June and the calendar is jam-packed with fun activities.

I'm loving that my bff and I are having a Sushi/Movie Date tonight!
I figure as her MOH I must take her to go see Bridesmaids... it's only logical right?! I can't wait, I've heard such great reviews!

I'm loving the waterfall braid.
(Claire's luscious locks are in the 1st picture & I'm in the 2nd)

Karmin Music.
I'm sure by now you've seen the their remake of Chris Brown's "Look at Me Now" and after spending some time exploring their YouTube channel I was soo impressed.  They are both super talented!  My favorite remake of their is definitely "Just a Kiss" by Lady A

How is he old enough to be done with high school?!

How cute is he??

I'm loving my new flippy-floppys

Little Moments

My little man is growing way too fast!
I started this blog to journal our life as a family and I must say that lately this blog has been seriously lacking the cuteness that is Jayden Scot (yes, it's Scot not Scott... family name) I want to remember everything and with Jay-man growing and changing a million miles a minute I feel like I'm already forgetting little things.  So without further ado, the star of the show... Mr. Jay

Jayden, Jayden, Jayden...

Where do I even begin?  You are the sweetest little man. You bring so much joy and laughter into our lives.

You are such a character!  You are very friendly and make friends wherever we go.

You are always so happy when it's time to eat.

You are a very messy eater, but if anyone can pull off wearing their lunch it's you.

You are the best little shopping buddy.  I always have so much fun shopping and running errands with you.  You love trying on accessories and posing for pictures and of course you always make some friends along the way.

You especially love visiting grandma at the candy store, I think you're finally clueing into what they sell there.

You're quite the ladies man and love to flirt!  I'm hoping this isn't a preview of your teenage years to come...

You have the most gorgeous long eyelashes.

You love trying on your daddy's shoes and at a size 16, these are some big shoes to fill!  Hopefully when you grow up daddy's shoes will fit you because he has quite the shoe collection.

I love this little smirk you make when you're trying not to laugh.

You looove your daddy.  He works a lot and spends one of his days off a week at the Fire Station.  Daddy works so hard to try and give you the best life he can but sometimes you don't get to see him that much.  It's so precious to watch your face light up when you see your daddy and whenever he walks in the door you greet him by running to him with your arms over your head for him to pick you up while yelling, "Hi Dada!!"

You are such a cuddle-bug and your dad and I love it.

You love Starbucks.

We don't get Starbucks that often but you can spot that green straw anywhere and always want to sample the goods.  I ended up buying a travel cup, I fill it up with water for you and you love it.

Whenever we go in the car for more than 10 minutes you fall asleep, you're the sweetest sleeper.

You love your uncles,  I'm so thankful that you have such great role models to look up to.

You're Auntie Claire sometimes watches you on Saturdays when Mommy has to work, she loves you lots and spoils you like crazy.

Baseballs, Basketballs, Footballs, Tennis balls... you love playing with balls.  You've got quite the arm too!  We spend most of our days either at the park playing with balls or at home on the sport court playing basketball.  "Ball" is the first word you say every morning when you wake up, you also have just started saying "hoop" except you say it in the cutest way, it sounds more like "hup!"

You not only like playing sports, you like watching them too!  People are always so impressed with you when we go to Richie aka Uncle Dick's basketball games.  You watch every detail and are so entertained, it's so precious.

Another one of your favorite things is going to the Fire Station.  Daddy usually turns on the fire truck's lights and you clap.

We love you so much sweet baby boy.  You bring so much joy to our lives and every day is fun adventure with you.  Your sweet nature and loving personality are so precious.  I love watching you grow, but often feel like time is flying by way too fast.  Thank you for being such a good boy, I'm so proud to be your mommy!  We love you Mister Man.
