What we've been up to lately

I know, I know, I'm fired... we've been super busy and that's left little time for blogging. What have we been up to you ask?! (I know you are on the edge of your seat just DYING to know what we've been up to ;) Let me fill you in:

It's OFFICIAL!!
After far too long of a wait I am finally and officially a Beahan!

Baseball Season has started so we took Jay to one of Uncle Richie's games
Uncle Richie also turned 16 and we celebrated with dinner and a yummy Dairy Queen cake.

Josh and Jay after Richie's game

My sister from another mister, Ashley, turned 24!
Jay 's his Auntie Ashley

Garrick and Nicole are back in town!!
Garrick is off the sub and Nicole is back from Chicago.
We got together for a welcome home lunch...
here is Garrick trying to corrupt my sweet baby ;)

We went to visit Josh's dad and family. Josh's dad had a birthday and Jay met his Grammy Joyce for the first time!

Here we are on the boat!

Jay loves his Grandpa!

Here is Josh checking for a dirty diaper, just keepin' it real!!

poor Bear! He is such a good sport, letting Jay ride him

It was my grandpa's birthday today and we all got together at my
grandparents house tonight to celebrate!

Lucky guy got 2 birthday cakes!

Here is my grandpa with his great-grandsons
Jay (3months), Grandpa (79) and Daniel (1 year)

And speaking of Daniel...
He had his 1st birthday party this Saturday,
it was a John Deere themed party and was super cute...
but I forgot my camera :(
Daniel is also going to be a big brother this August and grandpa & grandma will have 3 great-grandchildren then!!

It seems like the majority of our family has birthdays in March/April.
March Madness has nothing to do with basketball for me this year... it's more like our way of life, we have been so super busy! I'll be excited when things slow down a little bit.

Somebody is 3 months old today...

Today we took Jay's 3 month pictures in his crib. I really enjoyed looking at his pictures from today compared to the 1 and 2 month pictures and it's crazy to see how much he's grown, take a peek and see what I mean:

Here is the 2 Month picture:

Here is the 1 Month picture:

and 3 Months:

I can hardly believe that this is the same baby that we brought home from the hospital 3 months ago!!

(I forget that he was THAT teenie)

I cannot believe that Jay is 3 months old today... Man-O-Man does time fly!! As much as I wish that our little baby boy could be our little baby forever, I have loved watching him grow and learn. Every little thing that Jayden does is the most amazing thing to us... until the he does something else and then that's the most amazing thing. We're so in awe of Jay and since he is constantly learning and changing he is always doing something new. I had always heard that you just can't explain the love that you feel for your children once you become a parent... that is SO true! The love that I feel for Jay is so mind blowing and watching Josh love and take care of Jayden is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Jay has made me see Josh in a way I never have before and I never thought it could be possible but I really fall more in love with Josh every day. I love when Josh comes home from work, Jayden gets so excited when he hears Josh's voice. It is soo stinkin' adorable! Also, when Josh calls me I'll put him on speaker phone and once Jay realizes that it's Josh his eyes bug out and he starts to try to talk, I should take a video. I've loved the last 3 months and am savoring minute. Happy Birthday Jay Baby! We love being your parents and watching you grow.

Shamrocks and Shenanigans

Happy (belated) St. Patrick's Day!!

I hope you all enjoyed your St. Patty's Day! I don't know about you all but my family and I LOVE to go all out for holidays and St. Patrick's Day is no exception!! If you don't wear green then beware :) Josh ended up being scheduled to work until 10 (yuck!) we took some pictures before he left for work of us all in our green *you can't it in these pictures since they're zoomed in so tight but I was wearing green * ... Josh and I thought it was hard taking pictures with just the two of us, add a baby into the mix and I'm happy if we all are even looking in the same direction. Here are a few shots of us this afternoon:

tired baby

looks like Josh is getting a little flirty winking at the camera

...poor baby... nobody loves him at all!! ;)

My mom and Claire made the dinner and really went all out this year and made corned beef and cabbage, potatoes (even though Claire said it was bad of us to be having potatoes considering The Great *Potato* Famine and all... haha) and Irish soda bread. I ended up covering half of a shift at the coffee shop this afternoon and came home after work to them decorating the table and getting dinner ready. I felt bad that I had done nothing to help... so I dyed some non-alcoholic beer green w/ food coloring, haha:

as you can see I ended up with green food coloring all over my hands

The centerpiece w/ shamrocks and gold coins

our toast

The food

Jay's beer ;)

Hope you all wore green and didn't get pinched!!
Happy St. Patrick's Day :)

Adventures in the Emerald City

A week ago we went to Seattle and had so much fun that this week we took my mom and did it again!!

My mom works at a candy store here on the island and so when we walked by Franz Chocolates we had to stop by. Josh got the yummiest "iced hot chocolate" it was super rich but really really good. My mom's candy store sells some of Franz Chocolates so we knew it was good but we were blown away by their truffle selection-YUM! On the way out the door you can't help to notice this mural on the wall:

I thought that it was cool for them to have a mosiac piece done in different shades of brown since it's a Chocolate shop and all.... but look closer:

And a little closer:

They are chocolates!! How cool is that?!

After our stop at Franz we continued on to Pike Place Market. Last week when Josh and I went to the market we tried a sample of chocolate pasta, I kept thinking about what that was like all week so when we went back I had to buy some (can you tell I kind of like chocolate :)

Doesn't that sound interesting? The woman I bought it from was raving about it, I'll let you know what it's like when we make it. Josh and I have been doing a lot of cooking and have been trying to cook new things so we looked over their pasta selection and ended up getting some Southwest Orzo

Look how pretty these tulips are:
I love the little signs of spring starting to pop up everywhere. I think we might have to take a trip up to the tulips farms soon!!

I thought this shirt was awesome.

We started getting hungry for lunch and were trying to decide where to get lunch. We ended up going to Tom Douglas's Pizzeria, Serious Pie. I think that that was some of the best pizza I've ever had... we got 2 and split them.

Cherry Bomb Peppers and Sweet Fennel Sausage

Roasted yellowfoot mushrooms and truffle cheese

How good does that sound?! They were AAAmazing!! I had a few friends recommend Serious Pie and then saw it on "The Best Thing I Ever Ate" on the Food Network and I am so glad we went.

We were introduced to this wine @ Serious Pie and it's seriously amazing

Here are some fun pictures we took at Pike Place:

Behind us is a mural in actual size of the World's Tallest Man... 8'11!!
And we think that we are tall!!

Pretty much every time I go to the market I have to get a picture on or with the pig. It all started when my partner-in-crime and cousin, Kristen, came to visit when I was in junior high and now every time she visits we take a picture... we have quite the collection. Every time I go I try and take one and send it to her to entice her to come back! I can't wait for us to take our next pig picture in May when she comes to visit after her HONEYMOON!! Did I mention that I was going to Nashville in April to be Kristen's maid of honor? I'm SO stoked.

Anyways... we had another successful trip to Seattle, Jayden was an angel as usual.
I love that he loves the front pack.
He is so cute... and he has about a million of those bear suits, which I also love!

If you've never been to Seattle I highly recommend visiting the lush green hills, the picturesque skyline against the gorgeous Elliot Bay, the famous salmon tossers at Pike Place Market, delicious coffee and a vast array of delectable dining choices... what's not to love about the "Emerald City"?!

Seattle

The other day Josh and I made a trip into Seattle to go to the courthouse to FINALLY get my name changed. It has been such a mess, we've been married for a year and a half and I'm still legally a Thomas!! The first time we went to get my name changed we noticed that Josh's name had been misspelt so we had to go back to the courthouse to fix it, they then had to send the form to the state capital and then enter it in Seattle again :( Then they sent the correct form to us and I went to get my name changed and didn't notice that they had spelt my first name wrong and.... anyways.... long story short I'm still a Thomas so we went to Seattle to try to get it fixed once and for all!! We ended up making a day of it and had a blast.

After going to the courthouse we went to Jimmy Johns, which I love... I had been to Jimmy Johns a few times in Iowa but Josh had never been and he loved it too. Jay however wasn't too impressed, haha:

Sweet little baby!

We had Jay in the front pack and decided to take a walk through Pike Place Market.

I LOVE walking through the market...

The fresh fruits and veggies always look so beautiful

YUM!

But we didn't get any of the beautiful fruits or veggies... we got something much less healthy...

some fresh doughnuts!! haha

We seriously had such a blast at the market, so many vendors were telling us all about Seattle's history and hotspots... went with it and were tourists for the day!

While walking to the ferry we saw one of our favorite spots....

We figured since we had been eating so healthy all day (haha!) that we would stop in.

How stinkin' good does that look?! Well let me tell you... it tasted just as good ;) I love gelato.

We ended up having time to waste before the next ferry so we stopped by the arcade on the way to the boat and took some pictures in the photobooth. We don't have a working scanner right now or I would be showing off the cute pictures we took, maybe someday!

Here we are at the arcade... I was just expecting to run to the courthouse and come home, I'm not exactly "photo ready" but I had to get a picture of me with my sweet little boy. Jay did so good in the frontpack and looked adorable in his little bear suit.

I think this picture is so hilarious. Jay kept making this surprised face, priceless.

We had so much fun hanging out in Seattle that we are thinking we might want to do it again on Josh's next day off. I love spending time with my boys!
