Brewster Bound!

It's almost vacation time and I'm nowhere near ready!  I'd love to say that it's because I'm sick or because I'm a mommy to a one year old or because basically all of our possessions are in boxes, but sadly that is not the case.  The reason our suitcases are empty is because I, Britt Beahan, a packing procrastinator.  I am not proud of my condition, it is something that I have always struggled with... and it's a problem.  And it gets worse--I married a packing procrastinator and let me tell you, that when the two of us prepare for vacation... it is not pretty.  So, in the hope of avoiding some of the last minute chaos I have started packing our snow clothes, gathering the necessary toiletries and have a load of vacation laundry going!
*snaps for me!*(can anyone name that movie?!)
  You may be sitting at your computer screen rolling your eyes, but this is big for me...

I have quite a few reasons that I'm looking forward to our mini vaca, so many that I actually made a little list of things I'm excited about!  So, without further ado..
Reasons I'm excited for our weekend getaway:

Reason #1:  We get to spend some quality time with Josh's dad's family!
Here's the whole group after Josh graduated from the Fire Academy!
*For the record, I am aware that my sweet hubby looks like he is blind in this picture... he looks like this is pretty much every picture from that day, good thing I only took 134298754 pictures of him that day!*

Josh's dad and step-mom (aka the other Mrs. Beahan) are so much fun--I lurve them!

(fun fact: we are the only two Mrs. Beahans in the world)

 Jay gets to spend quality time with his Grandparents and Aunt & Uncle that he loves and never sees!

Reason #2:  Getting the band back together (aka our Rockband band which is named X-Squad.)  Be on the lookout for our next CD!  I kid, I kid, but seriously... we pretty much kill it on Rockband.  I have a feeling there will be many Rockband jam sessions on this vacation!
us in Brewster a few years ago, don't mind Josh's hair... we tried 'fro-ing his curls out (obviously it was a success! My poor hubby, he's always such a good sport!)

Reason #3:  It's gorgeous over there!  Don't believe me?  Take a look for yourself:

I love the snow!  Especially when I'm know it's coming and I am ready for it.

Reason #4:  Relaxing.  I can't wait to get all cozy and read!  Any book suggestions?  I got a few book recommendations today on twitter and have already downloaded the previews for some of them on iBooks/my Kindle app and am excited to look over them tonight!  If you have a book that you've read that you love, please leave me a comment about it!  When I start a book I'm the kind that just can't put it down... I have a feeling I'm going to get a lot of reading done on this vacation, yay!
*sitting here, reading in a blanket all snuggled up with some spiked big girl hot cocoa, yes please!*

I'm also excited that in reading, I'll have an excuse to wear my new-ish glasses... what do you think?

Reason #5:  We get to see "the boys" aka Bear and Zeus, the german shepherds, and feed our puppy fix! I can't wait until we can get our own!
They are the best boys and are so well behaved.
Bear being a good boy and letting Jay go for a ride when he was just a little guy:

Reason #6:  Spending some quality time with these guys!
  No work or fire dept. for the next few days for my honey and that makes me a happy girl! :)

Reason #7:  Snowmobiling!

I had never ridden a snowmobile before becoming part of this family, but now I am addicted.  Except, I'm a pretty tame rider compared to the rest of the family...
 I couldn't find a picture of Ty doing his snowmobile tricks, but I think you get the gist of his skills from what he can do on his dirt bike!

Reason #8:  The food/drinks.  Josh and his dad are magic in the kitchen!  I don't have any pictures of their food creations because honestly, they don't last long and there are never leftovers when those two cook.  Josh's dad also makes the best home brews (aka beer & apple/pear cider) at a local brewery and let's not forget Scoty specials (my FIL's signature cocktail, which I love and am determined to figure out the recipe!)

As you can see, I'm just a little excited!  As I write, I am realizing that I'm also doing a pretty good job of prolonging my packing duties.  I am determined to have a stress-free start to our weekend getaway so I'm  off to put another load in the washing machine and get everything organized, aren't you proud! ;)
Happy Friday Eve!!

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday!

 Since Jay is with Grandma today and I've been in bed sleeping on and off all day trying to get better, I thought I would play along and link up with Leigh Ashley for Wee Bit of Me Wednesday again!

 {one} how tall are you?
I am 6’2!  I played basketball in college and I love being tall! Plus, with a hubby that’s 6’8 I don’t really feel that tall with him around.

{two} besides bills, what do you spend most of your money on?
Groceries, diapers, gas...  You know, the usuals
{do those count as bills?}
I know those aren't very fun answers... we're really trying to be smart with money these days!  One thing that I love is Forever21 accessories though, they always have such cute stuff that is super inexpensive!

{three} what are your three favorite websites?
Probably Blogger, Facebook and Twitter.

{four} what brand of tennis shoes do you prefer?
I love working out in Asics.
I also LOVE my Hot Pink Chuck Taylors

{five} what food can you absolutely not stand to eat?
Liver and Onions! Uggh... it makes my stomach turn just thinking about it! Yuck!

{six} How many pairs of jeans do you own?
Hmmm... 3 or 4 pairs.  Honestly, I've been living in yoga pants lately!  I refuse to wear my bigger jeans and am really working on getting into a few older and smaller pairs.

{seven} if you could have any job, what would it be?
I have modeled and would love to model again.  I also love playing basketball.  I think playing for the WNBA would be such a fun job! But, realistically, I love being a mom and maybe one day would like to add coaching junior high or high school basketball and opening my own etsy shop to my job description.

{eight} have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
 Unlike my hubby, who rides in ambulances all the time being an EMT/Firefighter and loves it, my experiences with ambulances haven't been so great.  When I was in high school I got in a bad skiing accident and not only rode in an ambulance but rode in a helicopter and was airlifted to the hospital—not fun!  And when I was in college the breaks in my little Jetta went out and I was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after hitting another car  also not fun!

{nine} how many pillows do you sleep with?
I'm a two pillow kind of girl, but honestly I'm not picky these days!  I'll take sleep when I can get it!

{ten} on a scale of 1-5, how organized are you?
Ughh at the moment about a 2.  It is so hard to fit our whole life in the room I grew up in, pretty much anytime I need to find something we have to look through a billion boxes!  I know that being here for my family during all of this change is where we were supposed to be, but I'm so excited for us to have our own place again!!

Feel free to link up with Leigh Ashley and join in on the Wee Bit of Me Wednesday fun!  Ok, I'm headed back to rest up and try to get better!

bleh!

So after feeling under the weather for way too long I finally went to the doctor, she told me that I have one of the worst sinus infections that she's ever seen and I have conjunctivitis.  Boo!

{no way I would take a post a real picture of myself at the moment... I'm the definition of "hot mess"}

 Jay is spending the day with Grandma and I'm home in bed, I miss my boy!  I feel so horrible that he isn't here with me, but I know that I need to rest and get better.  Especially since we have our  weekend getaway to Josh's dad's this weekend!  Ok, now I'm really feeling the pressure... I'm heading back to bed!
I hope that all of you lovelies are staying healthy!!

OOh, I almost forgot! My little sister, Claire, just started her own blog after seeing how much I've loved blogging!  Stop by and show her some love, she's so excited to start her own blog and would love to if you guys would show her some love! Click here to visit and start "Keeping up with Claire!"

Happy Humpday!

TGIF! Favorite Things Friday

 Yay! It's Friday!!  I don't know if it's because we were sick or what, but it feels like it took FOREVER for Friday to get here this week!  Here are my favorite things that I've been loving this week:

Cupcake Candle
This candle is amazing!  Even though it says vanilla, it smells more like vanilla cupcakes with a hint of coconut, I love it.  It.is.devine.  I am not joking you, I literally take it with me whenever I leave a room.  It makes the whole room smell delicious.  Another thing I love about this candle?  The small size is $1 and the large size is only $5!  Oh, and if you're wondering where you can pick one up... Walmart.   Yep, you read that right, I said Walmart.  Such a great deal for such an amazing product!

 My BFF's engagement!
My best friend, Ashley, got an engagement ring in her stocking on Christmas!

I can't believe I haven't blogged about it yet, I'm soo excited for her!  She and Mike met their first week of college and have been together ever since!  It's funny because he grew up on 30 minutes away from us, but she had to go 3 hours away to meet him!  On Sunday a few of us went to watch her try on wedding dresses and she found THE dress, it is gorgeous, she looks gorgeous!  I'm so excited!  And while I do have a picture of the dress and of her looking fabulous in said dress, I will not be posting it for fear that Mike might see... and that is not allowed.
 (L-R us in the summer we graduated high school, my bachelorette party *yikes*, my wedding)
I'm so excited to be a part of this special time in Ashley's life.  I am beyond happy for her and am so thrilled to throw her a bridal shower, bachelorette party and whatever other reasons we can find to celebrate!)

Date Night
Last night, without telling me, Josh arranged for his mom to pick up Jay and watch him for a few hours so that we could go out on a date.  It was soo nice!  We didn't go aywhere fancy or do anything extravagant... and it was perfect!  Getting to spend some quality time together, just the 2 of us, was such a treat.  We went to The Pub and then walked along the waterfront and watched the ferry dock, while admiring the gorgeous view of the Seattle skyline at night.  Ok, we kissed a little too.  Date nights are definitely going to start becoming more frequent for us {I'm thinking monthly}  Jay gets quality time with our families, we get quality time together, everyone wins! Yay!

 * I would just like to say, for the record, that Josh is always one of my favorite things--heck, he's my most favorite!!  And while I could add him weekly to my favorite things posts, I have chosen not to.  Not because he isn't, but because I just don't want all of you ladies knowing what a catch I nabbed and getting any ideas! ;) Also, I feel like it goes without saying! {Oh, and maybe because someone asked me why I hadn't mentioned them as one of my favorite things!} :) *
Josh's senior picture.
Which he might kill me for posting.

The Good, The Bad & The Ugly

Aly and B started up this "Good, Bad and Ugly" series and I thought it was such a fun idea!

WARNING: All stories are true, not even the names or places have been changed to protect the innocent!

The Good: Jay can now say my name
The Bad: He calls me Britt not mom
The Ugly: Now all of my family {Josh, my mom, brother, sister, MIL...} are calling me mom to try to get Jay to catch on

The Good: Getting to spend 4 days with Josh and not having to go to work
The Bad: Both of us being super sick during those 4 days
The Ugly: Cafe = no work, no $$ {Praise Jesus Josh's job had sick days}

The Good: Rockin' out with my sister while getting ready to fill up her car at the gas station
The Bad: Realizing that she forgot her wallet
The Ugly: Realizing that I didn't have my wallet either... {We thankfully made it home and back, I have no idea how we made it... her car was running on fumes and prayer!}

The Good: My baby is super smart and picks up on things quick
The Bad: Jay knows how to unlock my iPhone
The Ugly: He has deleted various apps and even called 911

The Good: Victoria's Secret is having their Semi-Annual Sale and since I stopped nursing I have an excuse to get some new bras
The Bad: Not really knowing my new bra size since I've been wearing hideous nursing bras for a year
The Ugly: Getting measured by a Heidi Klum look-a-like

The Good: Jayden now can say Josh's brother's name
The Bad: Josh's brother, Richie, decided when Jay was born that he wanted to go by "Uncle Dick"
The Ugly: Jay keeps saying "Dick" {...just wait, he'll probably say it during prayer at church or something}

The Good: We had a fun family outing and went to Uncle Dick's basketball game last night
The Bad: Brenton got a bad bloody nose on the way home
The Ugly: Claire had no napkins in her car... when you're in a pinch you've gotta be creative:
my poor brother & his "man-pon"

Wanna join in?
Head over to either girl's blog to grab the button and get in on "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly" fun!  Hope you all have a great Friday Eve!!

Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

...it's been far too long since I've linked up with Leigh Ashley for Wee bit of me Wednesdays, I always love her questions!

{one}
Name one thing you worry about running out of?
I should say diapers but luckily I stay on top of that!  I'd have to say lip sauce
(you can read about lip sauce here)

{two}
What's your favorite pizza topping?
Pepperoni and Pineapple *yum*

{three}
What is your favorite Harrison Ford movie?
The Fugitive, it's so action packed.  When I was about 10 years old my babysitter let me and my brother and sister (who were 4 and 7) stay up and watch it.  My mom was not so happy about it (obviously, it's rated R) but I remember being at the edge of my seat the whole time, I was so freaked out but had to keep my cool so I could keep watching.

{four}
Apple Juice or Orange Juice?
OJ all the way!  We sickies have been downing a lot of Orange Juice this week.  I also got a great little cocktail recipe from my bff that I want to try out that involves OJ: Whipped Cream Vodka + Orange Juice= Creamsicle Cocktail!  It's supposed to be super yummy so I just might have to whip one (or more) up!!

{five}
What's your favorite thing to do on a Sunday afternoon?
If it's sunny, going for a long walk.  If it's stormy, getting comfy and taking a nap with my honey.

{six}
What is the wallpaper on your cell phone of?
raindrops

{seven}
Do you have a favorite TV commercial?
I loved the 7Up truck driver calendar commercial!  Do you remember it?  I used to die of laughter whenever it came on, Sexy Kind Of...
I used to say that to my girlfriends whenever they would ask how they looked.

{eight}
What is the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?
I haven't eaten very many weird things...?! I had Caribou Sausage last year at my Father-in-law's house?  Is that weird?  I do have to say, it was pretty dang good!

{nine}
What is one piece of clothing you can't live without?
Camis.
I pretty much always have a cami on under my shirt, they keep me warm and they keep me and from showing too much (on top and bottom!)

{ten}
If you were a character from LOST, who would you  be?
I think Juliet, not only because she lives here on my Island and I've served her coffee (that she raved about!), but because I too would do pretty much anything to keep my family safe.
Juliet (aka Elizabeth) is seriously GORGEOUS in person, her skin is flawless and ok, maybe she didn't "RAVE" about my coffee BUT she did tell me that the latte I made her was "delicious" ...not to toot my own horn or anything but... *Toot Toot!*

Happy Humpday!

Top 2 Tuesday: Outfits your loving for Spring

Spring is such a fun time of year.  I love the feeling of heading out of the colder winter months and warming up.  Spring clothes are so fun and fresh. I just love the transition of winter to spring... especially in my wardrobe.

1. I love the look of having a fun, bright top layered underneath a cardigan or button up.  These all would be super cute for a bottom layer:

 with a cute button up or cardigan:

 2. I also love dresses and skirts, they are perfect for spring:

3. And of course... you've got to have a great pedicure for  all of those cute spring sandals!

Ok, now I'm all excited for Spring and it's only January!
 But, I can't get too carried away with thoughts of spring just yet...  I have lots of snowmobiling and hot cocoa in my future!  We just decided that we're going to go on a mini little vacation to Josh's dad's vacation home in Eastern Washington next weekend!  *praying for lots of snow!*
